Notes[edit]

  • Phone user data could be lost, so always backup user data before firmware upgrade.
  • Recommended to charge phone battery before the update procedure.

  • most of the time it is not neccessary to repartition and flash bootloader on phone

Required items[edit]

  • Odin3 1.85 (or newer) + ini file (Download links here: Samsung Odin)
  • microUSB data cable for phone
  • firmware files for mobile phone

Firmware update procedure[edit]

Overview:

  1. Step 1 Install USB cable drivers
  2. Step 2 - 10 Setting up Samsung Odin3 flasher software
  3. Step 11 - 14 Flashing phone, resetting phone and checking firmware version.


1. Install Samsung USB drivers:

1.1 Remove then insert phone battery.
1.2 Enter Download mode by pressing Volume down, OK and On / OFF buttons at the same time. Phone will start in Download mode.

1.3 Press Volume up to continue.

1.4 Connect phone to USB cable.
1.5 Windows will ask for drivers. Install them.
1.6 When PC finish installing drivers, remove phone from USB cable, then turn it off by remove and insert battery.


2. Run Samsung Odin3 flasher software.

3. If repartition is needed, tick Re-Partition checkbox then click on PIT button to select .pit file.

4. If needed to flash Bootloader, tick checkbox next to Bootloader button, and tick Phone Bootloader Update then press Bootloader button to select bootloader file (filename: KERNEL_... .md5). (Important: Changing / flashing wrong bootloader could damage the phone!)

5. Tick checkbox next to PDA button, then press PDA, then select PDA file (filename: CODE_... .md5).

6. Tick checkbox next to PHONE button, then press PHONE, then select PHONE file (filename: MODEM_... .md5).

7. Tick checkbox next to CSC button, then press CSC, then select CSC file (filename: ...-CSC-... .md5).

8. Start N7000 Galaxy Note mobile phone in Download mode:

8.1 Remove then insert phone battery.
8.2 Press Volume down, OK and On / OFF buttons at the same time. Phone will start in Download mode.

8.3 Press Volume up to continue.

9. Connect phone to computer by USB data cable.


10. Samsung Odin software should recognize phone. When the phone is recognized, ID:COM is highlighted in yellow.

11. Press Start button to start the flashing procedure.

12. Few minutes later when the flashing procedure is done, PASS! will appear on the upper left corner, and it will be highlighted in green.

13. Flashing is done, remove the phone from USB cable.


14. Remove, then insert battery, and turn the mobile phone on.


15. Check the firmware vcersion by typing *#1234# You may perform full factory reset by typing *2767*3855#.
